I didn't realize how much water the gulf states get from desalination plants. For ex. Riyadh has a population of 7 million, is based in the middle of a desert, and gets all of its water pumped in from coast-side desalination plants. If that plant is destroyed, the city of Riyadh would need to be evacuated in a week.

I'm saying this as the US military has just announced it will begin bombing Iranian civilian infrastructure unless conditions are met. That's a dangerous game to play.

LLMs are clearly giving the broader tech workforce an existential crisis. Which I think is understandable.

If you view your job as solving issues for business as quickly as possible by way of writing code; then yeah you're generally not going to fare well against a machine.

I think things become more interesting when the frame shifts from "the output is code" to "the output are systems". IMO writing the code has never been the hard part of building systems.

Semi-regularly reminder that we not only have the technology to almost entirely eradicate airborne diseases and pandemics, it's surprisingly cheap too! HEPA-grade air filtration costs next to nothing to deploy, requires relatively little maintenance, and can scrub the air of almost all airborne disease. We've managed to rid our water and food supplies from diseases. There are no technical hurdles to do the same for the air we breathe too!
